Key Minnesota lakes still will be frozen on opener

It’s possible Mille Lacs won’t reach ice-out, and the likelihood of open water lessens with every step north.

They were driving on Cass lake last Saturday, the question isnt whether ice will be gone by opener but will it be gone by the following weekend.

Hmm, I think the ice will not be gone. That comment has no bearing on issue.

Call in the Coast Guard ice breaker!

I live 7 miles north of Brainerd on North Long Lake, Merrified Bay. There were ice fisherman on the bay yesterday. The ice has hardly receded from the shoreline so unless something happens quickly, I doubt that the ice will be out by Saturday.

At least we know where all the melting ice in the Artic has reappeared!

Even if the entire earth caught fire and turned to molten lava, MN would still be frozen for six months of the year...

• 'Climate experts say that global warming causes more rain, unless there is a drought happening – in which case they say it causes less rain. This is easy to understand. Alaska is the second wettest state, because it is so hot. Arizona is the driest state, because it is so cold. You are now ready to be a government climate scientist'

Maybe we should invite Al Gore up north for a late season Ice Fishing trip. I guess he can afford it from what I heard. Wonder where all that money came from. I suppose I would push lies to the unsuspecting public and complicit media for that kind of money. Its a good gig if you can get it. You suppose they include him when they call for taxing the rich?? probably not

So this begs the question: Will those that deride the Native Americans for taking spawning Walleye be staying home and not taking Walleye until they have spawned?

The state of Minnesota is one of those enigmas. If every 60 years or so and the lakes stay frozen, will then Nature will do what it wants to do. If for all of the other 59 years we get to go fishing on open water, then we cannot complain too much. Frozen or not frozen, that is the question!
