Maybe we could "symbolically" put them in jail for 20 years. Or jail them for 20 years in a "symbolic" jail. since they believe some laws are ok to break as long as your "symbolic"

What?? Boy, the minute we start believing 83 year old NUNS - we are doomed. Sheesh. HOW in the world could anyone think- for 1 second- that her "break in" was anything BUT a symbolic protest? What- you thought she was going to steal radioactive materials for terrorism???

I support what they did. However, they did break the law, and there are consequences to that. They knew that when they decided to hold their protest. Sorry, but put them in jail for the full time required, same as if their intent was terrorism. Intent isn't justification for mercy
