I have every expectation that the voters of that district will ignore the infidelity, inappropriate use of government funds and all other transgressions of Sanford. The alternative would be to put a qualified Democrat in office. I hope to be proven wrong.
Funny that this AP article doesn't mention that Colbert Busch spent time in jail for contempt of court a few years back relating to her own ugly divorce. Is there a MSM double standard? I think so.

Oh, wait, he has a D after his name so the standards are different!
ffederico, you are absolutely correct. It is shocking how partisan the media can be at times. As an independent voter, you really have to do your research to find out all the facts in these stories. Completely leaving out her arrest and contempt of court charges and only focusing on his infidelity is simply poor journalism.
Anyone else aware that Sandfords opponent is listed twice on the ballot? Nope, No behind the scenes shenanigans there!
All it takes to get elected in SC is repeated claim you hate the government and all taxes should be abolished. It also doesn't hurt to claim that slavery was good and the confederacy really didn't lose the war.
I guess according to Dems, infidelity is okay when when drunkeness and irresponisibilty directly leads to the untimely death of the candidate's paramour. Then said candidate can expect to hold office for life.
Wow, Republicans sling mud from decades ago, even bringing up their favorite whipping boys Bill Clinton and Ted Kennedy, and then attack Colbert Bush because of a contempt of court charge back in 1988 that they've no idea about. You talk back to a judge and you can get contempt of court. Sanford used government money and government time, then lied to everyone about his whereabouts when he was the CEO of the state. He left his watch as Governor, which is simple dereliction of duty, and tried to pass it off as some higher calling of romance. So worthy of your support.
I guess the Colbert connection wasn't as good as she and the Dems thought it was. It is sad though that the GOP couldn't have come up with a better candidate. But personal and public morality doesn't count much in choosing and voting on candidates anymore. And the Democrats certainly don't own the morality franchise.
The Republican Voters have NOOOOO Shame. They POUND and POUND on the Phony Facade of Family Values and yet They Seem to be the Most Egregious of Violators.....
But the Fact that when Governor he abandoned his job to Babe Hunting in Argentina with Government funds and was "Unavailable" to Perform his elected duties was the Most Important Issue...Job Abandonment.. Kind of Like the 1/2 Governor of Alaska.....
