University of Minnesota is set to ban smoking campus-wide

The University of Minnesota does not care what you smoke - there will just be no more smoking at school.

Justin LaMachia, if you want to give up smoking commit yourself to it and focus on your goal. Do it for yourself! Don't wait for a higher authority to tell you to do so.

I can't believe the Strib didn't interview an english professor on campus for this article. I never had an english professor that didn't smoke.

Wow, if they can pass this surely they can find ways to significantly reduce tuition for middle class kids without a handout from the state. Now THAT would be a significant accomplishment!

My only question is this, when do we ban automobiles from campus? Just think of all the things you are breathing that are coming from an exhaust pipe. Not to mention rubber particles from tires, and all the dust particles that are stirred up. It's always amazing to me that people who complain about second hand smoke, have no problem sitting in stop and go traffic on the freeway for an hour inhaling exhaust fumes.

As a U of M student, I am so glad of this! I am so sick of seeing cigarette buds all over the place (which harm our environment including our wildlife). Next step is to place hefty fines on those who litter cigarette buds in and around the Riverside area...
