The free-agent acquisition had his best start of the year, holding red-hot Cleveland to one run over six innings.

good game, and result. and, i agreed with gardy[happens] about pelf's last start. it showed progress; and it ain't pitcher problem this lineup can't score 5 runs. great pitching today. but? by MY strange logic, [full disclosure] the twins HAD the bases loaded twice in the same inning[before hammer got stuck in a very awkward position]. caroll is fun! he was great at 3rd. last time, and real good at 2nd. today. the QUEST ! for .500 w/l is on!

Good win. I said give Pelfrey one more start and if it isn't good then send him down. Well, I'm glad he shut me up. Take 3 of 4 from Boston and it would be an ok road trip.

2nd time the Twins have placed a runner in a run down between 2nd and 3rd because the 3rd base coach stopped a runner when he shouldn't have. In this case the ball was rolling to the side of an outfielder in deep right. JJ Hardy could have scored from 2nd on that hit.

Why did Vavra stop Mauer on that hit? Of course Willingham was confused. He was planning to take 3rd on the throw to the plate, which would have been late to get Mauer. He was the most surprised guy in the park to see Mauer having a sandwich on 3rd. As noted my "Mandich," that's the second time recently. Why not encase Joe and Justin in bubblewrap if we're so worried about their fragile physiques?

Lets face it, this team may be for real, and an 81-81 season may be possibleeeeee??????????

Okay I'm on board the Quest for .500 train. They could do it, but they're held together with bubble-gum and duct tape right now. With that in mind I think Pelfrey eased some minds in the dugout today, which is a positive. A negative is the Twins bats, they need to put 6-8 runs on the board more often. My early take is that weather has played a bigger role than anyone wants to admit - this team played in some really horrible weather. The fact that they made it out of April with a .500 record is an accomplishment in my book.

Let Plouffe play as long as he keeps hitting home runs. Gardy, don't keep criticizing his defense in the press!

A near .500 record represents an achievement for this roster; I think Terry Ryan deserves a lot of credit for this, especially for doing it on the cheap. The larger question is why we're still doing stuff on the cheap, but that's for another time.
