Some lakes still ice covered but there are options for fishing opener

Options are all around (but especially south or where there’s a river) if the lake you prefer is still covered by ice on Saturday.

Another good article Dennis. Big Sauk Lake may still likely be ice covered, but the Border Lakes of Big Stone and Traverse are where I will be headed. Both lakes should be ice free by Wednesday. The last Big Stone net survey had 35 walleyes per net and the perch fishing this winter has been outstanding. Those of us who fished the MN. Border Lakes Opener through the ice two weeks ago did very well for both. I think I speak for a lot of us here in Minnesota, The 2013 open water season can't come soon enough!

please when will we hear from our beloved DNR that certain lakes and rivers will be closed for he opener because spawning is not over yet or because of the mighty dollar we may again have another fake record setting walleye.
