Souhan: Where is Koivu when Wild needs him?

Perhaps Mikko Koivu is playing hurt. Wild fans can only hope that's the problem.

lot of work to do in the offseason Craig...1/get an experienced coach 2/get a power forward 3/get two more big defensemen 4/get a gm who knows hockey...that's a start.

Souhan, THANK YOU for telling it as it is! Sometimes Russo is just too soft on this team. You're right! Koivu is NOT a leader and I think we're ALL getting tired of the same ol' line that falls from his lips after every bad game he played "we weren't good enough. We have to play better". HE isn't good enough and HE needs to play better. I'm disgusted that he isn't man enough to step up and take responsibility for his horrid play. Time for him to move on. When is that 7 year contract up??

Anybody who watched the game, and not just looked at the post-game scoresheet, would know that Koivu is not playing hurt. His problem was that he tried to carry the entire team on his shoulders and took penalties by playing with a little too much edge, and out of a little frustration. And I think the players in the locker room know more about Koivu's leadership than Souhan does.

Playing with a little too much edge is one thing. Not moving your feet to body up the player your trailing and using your stick to trip is another. One out every seven or eight shifts we were aggressive with our body, pressed on the forecheck and it tilted the ice. That's not enough and needs to start shift one, period one Sunday. If not get the brooms out.

Sorry folks but this year it'll be four and the door.

They should take Koivu off the first line and quit acting like he belongs there. He cannot handle the level of play on that line. That will never happen because he will be insulted. It is time for him to start earning his spot. Little things do not equal 7 million dollars.

A couple of thoughts- 1. Parise is the best skater on the club - but Backstrom IS this club's MVP. 2. To suggest that there have been playoff failings (plural) would be to suggest Koivu and Wild have actually been in the playoffs in recent history to actually fail in them. 3. I think Wild have mistaken Koivu who is a GOOD player (not a great one) to be their version of some of the other great European players - note to Chuck 'IVY' Fletcher -position aside- Koivu is NOT Lidstrom or Forsberg or Sundin ... He's just a very GOOD second tier player!

Koivu is too worried about his game to be a leader and has NEVER lead this team to anything by putting it on his back. I, like many other fans, are tired of the excuses... put up or have ramifications. Koivu should be switched with Cullen for game 3 to not only send a message but to separate our "stars". Spot on with your assessment Souhan and finally it is said!

We are not the team (yet) that can beat Chicago at their own game. He had a tough night, but I won't put this loss on Koivu. Something has to change and I think figuring that out and getting the most out of this team falls on the coach. I like Yeo but he needs to show he is up to the challenge. If we play a good game (coaching and playing) and loose, so be it. But that was not the case last night.

Right on Sooch! Parise shouldve been playing Cullen from day one. He has better vision than Koivu. Not too late.
