Wild thumped 5-2 by Blackhawks in Game 2

CHICAGO – Like a broken record during two off days leading into Game 2 of the Western Conference quarterfinals, the Wild repeated the same line over and over and over: “We just have to be a little better in some areas.”

you have the 2nd highest scoring team (chicago) against the 6th lowest scoring team (minn). over a 7 game series i like the chances of the higher scoring team. pretty simple really. hopefully chicago ends this quickly. i would really hate to see leipold get any more "free" money from any extra playoff games.

Do we get a participation banner for NHL Playoffs 2013? Koivu reminds me a lot of Joey Mauersies. They are both nice guys who work really hard.

Great game tonight Koivu!! Way to use those great leadership and captain skills and fire up the team! Ridiculous!

So much for our superstars showing up. Koivu was a huge disappointment. It actually got me researching. While he does show flashes and have his moments, the past 3 seasons prove Koivu isn’t a #1 center. Breakdown of center ranks in comparisons to Koivu: 2013: 19th in points, 35th in goals. 2011/12: finished 44th or lower in points/goals (missed time due to injury). 2010/11: 19th in points, 45th in goals. 2009/10: his best statistical season, 11th in points but 28th in goals. He’s 30. He isn’t going to get any better. I like Koivu, but we need to accept the fact that he is NOT a #1 center on a legit playoff team. If we actually had a legit #1 center, such as Datsyuk, Getzlaf, or Toews, (notice I didn’t even mention the extremely elite centers), Parise and the Wild would actually be a threat.

Some teams talk, and some teams do... Hard work does not win championships - smart work wins championships... Quick - hit the thumbs down button - Vince Lombardi said that - you know - the guy whose teams WON championships said that.

3 thought on this loss: 1.) The Wild still are not physical enough on Chicago's d. 2.) Koivu was horrible. Does the kapitan need to be reminded that its the playoffs? Move your feet! 3.) Coyle looks badly over matched on that top line. He's not quick enough with his skating or his hands and for the most part isn't using his body well. Much to improve on in a day...

hey Mr. Leipold take notes on how to build a winning hockey program. It starts with a coach/Quinnville who has proven by WINNING already in the NHL and having advisors like Scotty Bowman...won more Cups than anyone in your front office. That's where it starts. Make it happen!

lindy_frank123May. 3, 1311:36 PM

hey pazaluna shame on you...you call that supporting your team? hope the Hawk end it quick? what the heck is that? sure hope the players on the Wild don't see that crap.

Wow, this team kind of comes off as the Minnesota Twins On Ice, don't they? Not pretty. Way to go guys, great playoff memories are being forged for us wild fans. An early exit just might be in store for the wild. Unfortunate, but saw this coming.

lindy, paza isn't a Wild fan. He's been trolling the site for a couple years now and only posts when the Wild loses.
