how great that kids grow up in metro st. paul neighborhoods and then pay big money to go to school at Cretin, hill and sta only to "try" for a scholarship while their friends, neighbors watch them join up with other big stars to make a powerhouse and pound the other local schools. It's wrong on many levels. go play in your own league

wisstinks4- I understand where you may be coming from -I just don't happen to agree. Having been a 'private school' kid from a family of moderate means and having done the same for my own kids (now long graduated)guess what? The world has changed. But then again in some respects it hasn't. In St. Paul, going on an entire CENTURY now kids have gone to HM, Cretin, STA, St. Agnes, St. Bernie's (I think now closed) SPA/Summit... Many generational layers of families and extended families have not only supported but attended these schools. If they play sports or go to these places for an enhanced Theater program or Arts- just an added benefit. Same story in Minneapolis and surrounding 'burbs with 'De', Benilde, AHA, Totino, Breck, Blake and M'HAHA Acad etc. Fact is these families choose this for their kids. In part they DON'T want their kids marching in 'lock step' with all the kids they grew up with. At the private schools not everyone was 'born rich'. But the consistent and prevailing theme in all of them is they DO espouse positive attitudes towards achievement, hard work, persistence and success - and an attitude that you don't have to 'apologize' to anyone for working toward the same ...

Pretty stupid to think joining a Conference is an act of segregation. Maybe being a Catholic school would also be an act of segregation. TG needs to straighten this guy out!

Been there, done that. Catholic schools in Minnesota played apart from public schools until about 40 years ago, when the Catholic high school league was dissolved.

Of course TG & CDH are going to stay put. They kill teams in some sports in their conference and then get it handed to them in others. If they went with all the Catholic schools they would get crushed in every sport!!
