Kudos to Rhode Island for common sense and human decency. It's time for the remaining 40 states to follow suit.

"Another state moving out of the GOP stone age!"

Since RI is a blue state why didn't they let the people vote on it? All of us know that this is not a liberal versus conservative issue. CA (Prop 8) proved that liberals are against same sex marriage. Just a fact that the partisans want to ignore.

Minnesota legislators should take note what leaders do in states where social justice matters. Let's not be the Mississippi of the Midwest.

Those who believe in equality or those who are against equal rights for all?

It's telling how many politicians are "evolving" to protect their ambitions. I always knew discrimination was wrong as a kid and an adult. I didn't evolve into that value.

Minnesota and Wisconsin are always behind the other states by 10- 20 years. People in Minnesota are still debating "civil unions" while the gay marriage is legalized elsewhere. We made marijuana possession less an offense than a jaywalking ticket in Seattle 10 years ago and now legalized marijuana as a state in Washington. The right to die, same thing, legal in Washington and Oregon, in Minnesota you suffer and die and go bankrupt, so wrong and cruel. I can buy hard liquor at Walgreens in Seattle and soon marijuana too. Gay marriage and all the rest of these socially liberal realities will come to Minnesota it just takes time. People here, as they always have will kick and scream and fight it and say it will never happen but reality always wins out in the end and it will be a good thing.

"All of us know that this is not a liberal versus conservative issue."...................... Yes, there are more and more conservatives that come out in favor of gay marriage all the time. There were over 100 conservative republicans that signed a pro-gay marriage brief which they sent to the Supreme Court. And very often, a prominent GOP comes out in favor of gay marriage- you never see one the other way. You need to read a current newspaper instead of one from 10 years ago.
