There are state actors who would like to kickstart a war under a false flag. Perhaps also some of the "freedom fighters" from Libya got some interesting trickets when they overran Qaddafi's holdings. Nice to see the Prez not sucked into this. Hope it holds up.
Stay unsure and leave Syria alone. We are not the world police
We now have intelligence reports that chemical weapons were used in Syria. If we go look for them, and they are not to be found (read: hidden), then will people lambast the president for years about "no WMD found"?
So why did he have this press conference? He, British Prime Minister and the French guy who's gone now, gave the Syrian rebels the go a few years ago and as soon as they all saw its not popular with their electorates (though it was too late for Sarkhov), they have left these rebels hanging. Obama, who said the US can't sit an watch genocide take place anywhere in the world, is ignoring it in many countries, one being Syria.
The other topic - how could the FBI and Homeland Security have done their jobs if the guy was able to blow up the finish line? So they have this list of suspected terrorists for what reason? So that when one of them blows something up, the FBI and HS can say, hey we knew he was a terrorist. They blew it. And they blew it on his watch. Bush had an excuse with 9/11 because we hadn't experienced terrorism in our borders, but Obama no excuses. Except because its Obama, that's all we get is excuses.
"Obama, who said the US can't sit an watch genocide take place anywhere in the world, is ignoring it in many countries, one being Syria." ------------ The genocide will occur if the jihadis win. That's why the Syrian government still has support - Christians, Kurds, Shi'a, moderate Sunni greatly fear jihadis. Thats' why the war has lasted over 2 years. Given the track record and blowback of the much smaller Libyan fiasco, Obama may have gained some "wisdom".

And exactly what should have been done differently? Placed a round-the-clock surveillance team on a pair of brothers that have been living the US for a decade without causing trouble just because Russia made an inquiry?
Be consistent--that's all we ask. If you wanted to help in Libya, and were in favor of the "Arab Spring," in Egypt, what is the difference? The difference is the Russians are on the other side here. Find their anti-aircraft missiles and waste some cruise missiles, get the Russians on the run first--they will fold with their support in Syria and Iran.
Does Lindsay Graham really believe the incidents he cites would not have taken place during the presidency of a Mitt Romney?
President Obama should" pack up and go home" - please do and take VP Joe Biden with you. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Sen. Baucus, a supporter, is right when he says the Affordable Care Act is a train wreck. Can't call Syria out on chemical weapons- if they were a responsible regime, they would have destroyed them years ago. You called out a "game changing red line"- take a stand.
And exactly what should have been done differently? Placed a round-the-clock surveillance team on a pair of brothers that have been living the US for a decade without causing trouble just because Russia made an inquiry?-----------They probably would have done the same thing that they have done preventing hundreds of other terrorist attacks in the country. Russia, BTW, did more than make an inquiry. They have tapes of him and his mother discussing jihad against the USA. They gave this information to the FBI and nothing was done about it. This is a failure in our system and hopefully they learn from it!
