The "concerned parent" along with the Catholic Church need to catch up with the rest of the world. They have just ruined a 19 year career out of closed-mindedness. She would not have lasted there for 19 yrs if she was not doing good job. This is infuriating
So a priest can have gay sex with a young student at a church, be reassigned, forgiven, and kept in the fold. A teacher, in a permanent relationship, who never bothered to make her home life common knowledge, is fired. Sorry to see that the double standard is still in vogue...
It's too bad that the church is playing hard ball with her. The gutless "anonymous" parent should show his/her face and accept the responsibility of outing the teacher and the ramifications. It was OK that the teacher was a practicing Methodist but gay - OMG! Sadly, I'm pretty sure the church will not back down, even if there is a million signatures on the petition.
All Catholic school personnel at the outset of their employment agree that they will abide by the rules, regulations and policies of the Catholic Diocese, including respecting the moral values advanced by the teachings of Christ," the diocese said in a statement.................Hale lied to Church officials in order to get a job. It is as simple as that. If she was so concerned with her choices she should have sought out a public school to work at.
