I am curious as to the rationale of why these people did what they did. However, at the end of the day, does it really matter?
As a security professional, I truly believe that while we can learn from these sorts of events, we will only make marginal improvements and we can never completely prevent all such events. That is one of the risks of the world we live in.
I thought the wiretapping was supposed to stop all future attacks? I don't understand. Maybe we need an assigned government agent on every residence to monitor our activities.
His mom was also on the watch list. Why was she allowed back? We need to re-think our bias. Many Muslims are dangerous. Profiling is better than bombings.
So, can we assume mom is getting her bags packed for her permanent return to the motherland? So much for her darlings being framed.
This seems like a CYA piece for the fbi. Almost deflecting their failure onto Russia. I guess the multiple warnings from Russia needed much more detailed and specific information before the fbi or cia could be bothered to focus on the potential threat. And the russians should have followed up to make sure the fbi was taking the warnings seriously enough.
On camera the mother says she thought America would be a good place for her family and that America would protect her children "… but then America took my kids away from me!" she cries. She presents herself in her head scarf for the news cameras now but we're also seeing her personal on-line photos dressed like a tarty swinger chick. She is truly a deeply confused individual.
I hope the Mother is blocked from re-entering our Country.
This being the same govt that jumped the gun and totaly botched the Ricin bust, why would this same govt trust any intel coming out of Russia? (let's show our country how inept we really are).
There is just so much to this story that makes one do a double take; this was the act of two brothers acting alone yet the Russian authorities had them on the radar along with Mom and actually reached out to US authorities. So that doesn't make you think there is more to the story and a couple of brothers acting alone? Makes me sick that those losers were given financial aid and refuge by the US and what we get back is hatred. The oldest brother didn't even work - he received welfare payments from the country he grew to hate.
"Family members have said Tamerlan was religiously apathetic until 2008 or 2009, when he met a conservative Muslim convert known only to the family as Misha. Misha, they said, steered Tamerlan toward a stricter version of Islam." He chose to be "steered"
