Less than a quarter of the Twins’ 2013 payroll goes to pitching, their smallest percentage in some time.

I don't know how soon he'll be gone, but this year is definitely shaping up to be Morneau's last go 'round with the Twins, unless he takes a major pay cut.

Another article which shows how deceptive percentages can be. The twins cut their payroll to somewhere around 90 mill, and two players make 38 million of that. if those players produced according to their salaries, those numbers become less relevant. When those two players produce almost nothing, as mauer and morneau are doing now, it IS a problem. the other part of it is the pohlsd's demands for a minimum profit which is the highest percentage to revenue of any tem in major league baseball. That high profit margin is only made possible by the taxpayers in Minnesota handing over a new stadium to the Pohlads. So while it is true statistically that the "hitters" to "pitchers" ratio may seem out of whack, that is due to bad "hitter" sign ings done solely to get us to build the pohlsds a stadium with a pr move to sign the home boy.
