Should be fun to watch

The worst marketing move in Twin Cities sports. The Lynx should have traded away all their talent to get those two on the same team ten years ago. It wouldn't have mattered if the team was any good. They would have filled the joint and had every school girl in town wearing a Whalen or McCarville jersey. They could have continued to ride the wave those two were on while they played for the Gophers. Think of the commercials, the public appearences, they could have really milked it out. It would have benefited the Gophers and the Lynx. Not sure if that magic still exists.

Are you kidding, this is awesome!

This is a great story for these two gals! They were fun to watch as Gophers and the show will be even better now. We all wish this would have happened ten years ago but that's not how it always works out. Here and now this is good, that matters more than what we feel could have been. Don't waste today dreaming about yesterday. But for these two...I hope they have the time of their lives!

Swiftboat: the Lynx DID try to trade for Whalen before the draft but Connecticut was not willing to do so. As for McCarville, she was the number one pick in the draft for her year. Your proposal was not feasible. Obviously, the Lynx have made up for lost time by getting them both on a team that already has the best record over the last two years. Instead of criticizing, how about you congratulate them and buy your season tix.

If the Lynx traded the farm for Whalen and McCarville right after their Gophers years, there's no guarantee the Lynx would have ever won a championship like they have, or that they would have been lucky enough to get their other current (and popular) superstars, Seimone Augustus & Maya Moore. Therefore, there's no reason to complain about that anymore.

Those years watching these two play together for the Gophers were awesome. A great Lynx team just got better if these two can find the magic they had before, very exciting.

I've always thought McCarville a good player but not necessarily the brightest bulb on the court, while Whalen has always been an extremely heady player with loads of basketball intelligence.

This should be fun to watch. Hopefully this will bring us another championship.
