Are you really certain Parise has lived up to the billing? Suter, yes. Considering the hype, Parise has under-achieved. Most of his goals are on the power play, not even strength. Mikko and Coyle weren't doing the dirty work for him, he would be lucky to have a handful. A lot of money for someone so dependent upon others.

Parise hasn't been perfect but you can't argue with what he has done. He's had some dry spells like all players do but he has been the most consistent forward. Given a full training camp and having been acclimated to the team, etc, next year I bet he does even better.

Nice piece, Chip. As for this once again carries the personality of its captain. There are few in the league more streaky than our very own Mikko Koivu. And like it or not, as Mikko goes, so too does this franchise. Add into that equation a coach that looks more and more like he's in over his head (the lack of discipline and the micro-managing and the knee jerk reactions all the time), and you have a recipe for failure.

Koivu and Heatly as a package deal for a proven blue liner and power forward. Yeo again insulting the fans by his excuses and his head in the sand stand.

You can add Spurgeon to the "unreliable" list.

Backstop is indeed tired. Anyone who faced his pressure would be. He should be Wild's MVP. As for pressure and stress? Where was the urgency earlier on? HONESTLY! What Wild does from now until season's end will shape fan & league wide perception for the next 5-6 seasons. Will they be viewed as a franchise which can come through when they chips are down? Or, will they be viewed as a weak but financially self serving marketing machine (only interested in ancillary marketing gimmicks and not the 'on ice' product) which relys on a 'sympathetic' fan base? Will they actually leverage the idea they may be a jinxed franchinse (Chicago Cubs)? This week will tell us a lot about the next 5-6 years for this club.

Much like Risebrough ruined the future for the Minnesota Wild, Fletcher has done the same thing. The next GM for the Wild will be left with very little in Houston and it is back to the drawing board trying to rebuild after trading away 2 very good prospects and 2 high draft choices.

With his rose-colored glasses comments, Yeo is either out of touch with reality or doing an admirable job of not throwing his under-performing team under the bus in a public forum. While others may disagree, I think he is protecting his team in public and dealing with reality behind closed doors.

Are the Wild players smart enough to win thats the question. Do they have the abilty to play a mistake free game because that is what they have to do.
