I supported the last levy and will likely do so again, however, there are a couple of issues that concern me. One, is the "fuzzy math" provide by the district's budget director, before the last levy and then the real $ number that came to light following its failure. The second issue is the question all the school age student's that live in the district, but don't attended the district's public schools. (home school, private, charter, etc) . A couple of years ago, I heard that number was 20% (which seems unbelievably high),. Is that number accurate? I was also told that the district basis it's levy needs, on the number of school age children in the district, and not on the actual number that only attend district school. And, that the district keeps all that extra levy money, even though large numbers of students don't attend district schools. Is that also true? If so, it seems like the district needs to recalculate their numbers to reflect their actual student needs. Hope someone can clarify this for me.
