Honey Badger seeks REDEMPTION

"My best friend right now is honesty," says former LSU cornerback Tyrann Mathieu. "I want to be as open as possible because I'm trying to rebuild people's trust." Mathieu's future is one of the interesting tales in this year's NFL Draft, which runs from Thursday through Saturday.

The Honey Badger might have Winfield's size, but does not have Winfield's skills. He ran a 4.7 40 ? That in itself should turn GM's heads away. He maybe drafted because of his ability to play the slot, and return both kick-offs, and punts. Come on man, admitting to 10 failed drug tests. 1 or 2 maybe, but 10 is just a GIANT RED FLAG. Some of these failed tests are recent. This guy, with an NFL Player's salary will go off the deep end. Good job NCAA !!! Cover up a big time player's problems so you can keep the money rolling in. This kid should have been forced to get help after the 1st couple of tests. Big time athlete, bigger time problem. Spielman, "JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS !!!". GO VIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From Philly, but have ALWAYS been Vikings fan. Grew up on the Purple People Eaters. One of the biggest pick-ups for the club was Chris Carter. Those in Philly saw the "potential" talent CC displayed. But his penchant for weed consumption superseded his desire to be a great athlete. Vikings picked him up for the paltry sum of $100. $100! Which makes me wonder: if that same deal was available today, would the Vikings have pulled the trigger? My heart says "yes." My head says "no." For a while there, Minnesota was the organization that took chances on players. Why, organizationally, and other than Jared Allen, has the organization been cautious in pursuing players who've have "challenges?" Prior to Harvin, the team (for years) has not had anyone of significance in the punt return/kick-off return teams. Someone like Mathieu could change a game with his ability.

He could be a cheap pick up with huge upside. His contract could be written with weekly drug tests and random offseason drug tests. If this kid is serious about his career he could be worth a look. He will get drafted it's just a matter of who will take the chance and what round.

don't be fooled by 40 times.some guys are players, I remember Darrell Suggs had a poor 40 time and dropped and there have been more .A lot depends on the team schemes.Drugs are a crap shoot so careful team evaluation is a must.I would take him at 3

I'm all about Mathieu. This guy would be selling jerseys like hot cakes. And you can take that to the bank!

Honestly, this kid seems like he's really wanting to change his life for the better. He has the talent, and it seems the heart. if we can get this guys in the 3rd round or so, this could be a steal with alot of upside for us! GO VIKINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Risk vs reward. Remember, this kid was defensive player of the year 2 years ago. I say take the chance with conditions like regular testing and a support system to help him. Draft a sure thing early for the defensive backs and take a flyer on him later and you might get two gems. We can use them. In our division with the quarterbacks we face you never have enough quality defensive backs!

Is it only me ? Doesn't anybody else out there see a less athletic Packman Jones ? I with the kid luck, but hope the team stays away from him. To much good CB depth in this draft to reach on this kid. he didn't even play last season. GO VIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is a joke.Let him have his drugs, all he wants is a contract in the NFL,then it will be same ol same ol,because he's a good athlete he should not get 10-15 second chances.

I hope the Vikings stay FAR, FAR away from this guy. Let him be a headache for some other locker room.
