"56% of urban, 52% of suburban and 41% of rural people think gun laws should be made more strict" What happened to the 90% that the anti-gun crowd has been parroting for the last few weeks?

The left wing would have gotten some of what they wanted if they would have simply opened a dialogue. Instead, our president used the victims of Sandy Hook as pawns in a political game. He took a Holier Then Thou position and was going to get gun control passed come hell or high water. I'm proud to be a lifetime member of the NRA.

All this bill does is provide for hefty fees for law-abiding gun-owners who will have to pay a federally-licensed gun dealer to conduct a background check on the guy's buddy from church that he wants to sell his gun to. Then the background check information will be stored by the federal gov't forever. The bill makes no sense, and will stop no crimes from taking place, while piling the pain upon law-abiding people.

People realized that the bill that the president did nothing to prevent the type of tragedy that happened at Newtown. even Diane Feinstein said that. All this did was to restrict the rights of law abiding citizens. the 90% comes from a poll that asked should background checks be used to prevent criminals and the mentally ill from obtaining a firearm. Of course. But it should not be used to restrict ownership for law abiding citizens. The left will chip away at our rights until they are gone. they were stopped this time.

Obama gloats in victory and acts like a child in defeat. He goes around the country and calls Republicans knuckle dragging red necks who hate women and minorities and then wonders why they always vote against him and won't work with him. Go figure.

He did everything in his power. In a republic the "leader" is not the sole power. You are not our king President Obama and it's rude to insult the senators who voted their conscience.

I am tired of all the bickering. Surely we can agree that something is broken in our society . . . that violence against innocent children and other people going about their daily business cannot be tolerated. How about engaging in a constructive debate instead of the predictable, self-righteous comments that usually prevail in the posts on this topic. Grow up.
