Teams in search of receivers won’t find a Calvin Johnson or a Larry Fitzgerald. But what they will find are solid starters, contributors and Day 3 sleeper picks

Every year, WRs are probably the most over-hyped players leading up to the draft. Austin was projected as a 3rd-round choice at the end of the season, then he ran a 4.34 at the combine and suddenly he's in the top 20. And Patterson may have led the SEC in total yardage, but as a receiver, he caught just 46 passes for less than 800 yards, then he took a short-cut to a paycheck rather than spend another year developing his skills. Does that sound like someone with the dedication and work ethic necessary to succeed in the NFL?

I'm predicting Austin will go higher than Mock Drafts! Maybe Top 15. I've heard too many teams are HOT on this guy. Wouldn't surprised me to see Justin Hunter in the 1st and DaRick Rogers early in the 2nd. I'd love to see the Vikings take Rogers at some point. I'll be crossing my fingers the Vikings Don't take Manti Teo in the 1st. Uggg.

At this time of year, all these guys are Overhyped. GM's, and Scouts have to look at a players body of work, more than anything else. There are so many underclassmen out there that really only have one good year as a starter to show their talents. As far as the Senior Boml goes, this is an all-star type of event. Two weeks of practice, and maybe 30-40 minutes of game time,in systems that most of the players never played before. Every year, dozens of players turn the heads of NFL teams because they have an outstanding Combine. Lets be honest, most WR's run faster in shorts, and track shoes. How does he do against bump and run, when he plays elite CB's ? That O- Lineman can really bench press, and has the perfect Pro type build. But, can he block a NFL caliber D-Lineman ? Wow did see how fast that DE ran around those cones ? Can he do the same against a Veteren OT ? The fact is, Teams who Draft because they fall in love with "Work Out Superstars", usually get burned. I remember a WR the Vikes drafted with their 1st round pick, right after they traded Randy Moss. He was a total bust. But he could fly, and really embarrassed those cones at the combine. Rick, the Vikes have quite a few holes, and needs. WR, DT, MLB, and CB, are a must. Do what ever you, and your Scouts did last year. Please no "Man Crush" picks. GO VIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know how familiar anybody else is with Marcus Davis but if the Vikings draft this guy with mid-round pick it will be fun to see how the guy develops. Physically, Marcus Davis is without a doubt a first round pick but his game has some technique holes in it so he will drop.

This daft has both talent and depth but will need them to develop. There is no clear top guy but Austin would have the most immediate impact because of his similarities to Harvin. We need a guy that can make big plays down the field like Rice did. I would hope Justin Hunter would be around for us in the second round. Aaron Mallette, Elon and Charles Johnson of Grand Valley St. could be sleepers in the late rounds.
