After two players de-committed and a third chose another school, the Gophers have no recruits coming in for next men’s basketball season.

Pitino is young, motivated, enthusiastic and positive. Its early, but I like what I see and hear so far. Hopefully the top three MN recruits in the 2014 class see it too and realize they can play close to home in one of the top conferences in college basketball.

Foster and Ellis played for a high school that walked out and would not accept their 2nd place trophy after losing the Champioship game in Illinois. Their coach has been banned from postseason play for the next two years because of it. This may have had something to do with their "decommittments".

ActTwo: Nice. Just the kind of kids we want playing at the U.

The nice thing is Pitino, unlike Tubby won't just hand out scholarships to fill roster spots. That reason is why we had Andre Ingram, still have Maverick and Oto. When you give scholarships to people that are in no way a DI player it shows you just what a lazy and ineffective recruiter Tubby and his staff were.

I agree...Pitino is motivated and enthusiastic. He’s looking for the right talent and I truly get the impression he’s going to develop that talent along with the remaining team into something exciting to watch. I’m planning on being at the Barn for his first game...hopefully to see the start of something great. GO GOPHERS!!!!

ActTwo, Ellis is from De La Salle, a Chicago South Side Catholic high school which did not make it to State. Foster is from Seton Academy, a Catholic school from a Chicago suburb (South Holland) which has the head coach to whom you refer. On April 9, Amelia wrote that one of Pitino's assistants (presumably Kimani Young) called Foster to revoke his scholarship offer. Today she wrote that he (like Ellis) de-committed. Which version is accurate?

Mike Balado would actually consider going back to FIU for a "higher level position"? As director of basketball operations here, the only higher level position he could get at FIU would be AD.

"As director of basketball operations here, the only higher level position he could get at FIU would be AD"...Are you saying that a DBO outranks a head coach?; or are you saying that the FIU head coaching position has been filled already?
