This country is going BANKRUPT and we are spending $9 million on ICE....in Minnesota?

A much better expenditure, used by real people, compared with funding playing palaces for millionaires' gladiator teams. Oh, and how's that Killebrew-era good old fresh open air stadium working out?

Glad to see Parade is getting an upgrade. I haven't been there in a while but I recall the older rink was getting pretty dilapidated. It's a good investment by the city. This is the kind of thing that makes living here better than other places. It can't always be about the bottom line. Quality of life is important, and a city owned rink it not unreasonable.

As local officials say "it's only money." I wonder how many people actually use this arena.

I was raised in this rink. Thank you parks for approving this project.

"it's better than giving a billionaire a new stadium" is the lamest argument for wasting tax dollars I've ever heard.

maybe the firm that did the bloomington overhaul should be involved with this job? they did the prior work for a "fraction"? of the cost? are we getting overcharged? is it a mpls city fee? maybe the mpls permit costs more?

I hope they put this project out for competitive bidding rather than doing it under a cost plus contract.

The work will be done by the Union so of course there will be sticker shock. Same thing with the Vikings stadium, the only way Dayton approves is if the work is done by Union workers, so this will cost 50% more. You don't need a GED to figure out why we spend more then we make.

Well, if u asked any of the mpls council members about cost, they might just say "huh"? We pay whatever the contractor wants. It's not our money.
