Hartman: Vikings have lots of needs in draft, but lots of picks as well

  • Article by: SID HARTMAN , Star Tribune

Frazier said he would like to get more depth at wide receiver; a little more competition on the offensive line; and the defensive line is aging as well.

This loss is nothing for the Twins compared to how much they will lose by not even trying to field a competitive team.

Maybe to make up for the loss of the early revenue, the Twins could charge folks $15.00 apiece to watch batting practice....

Using Joe Webb in a different way (kick returns, occasional backfield use, etc.) could easily help mitigate some of the talent loss attributable to the Harvin trade. I could also see the Vikings considering a trade up in the first round if they felt they could nab a top-notch corner -- the draft is so deep in other areas of need (WR, DL) that they could still get quality in the mid-rounds at these positions. If nothing else, it should be fun to see how it all pans out!

The last part about Coach Kill, his Staff, and the Gopher Football TEAM was more important than the Vikings report. Good job Gophers, instill Pride and Pay It Forward.

Het Sid, lets take up a collection for the Pohlads to help them make up for their revenue losses this weekend. Kinda like 'pass the hat' for the Pohlads.

I like the idea of putting Joe Webb in the backfield.Have AllDay and Gerhart run it up the middle soften up those big guys in the middle then let Webb see if he can get outside and outrun some linebackers.Cord Patterson might be their for the vikings first pick.Take him and then look for a nose tackle. We have not replaced Pat Williams and it shows.

I agree with dellwo completely about Webb and coming up in the first round to get a corner, preferebly Dee Milliner.

The Vikings would be fools to move up sacrificing other picks in what is considered a deep draft. Take the best available players, don't draft for need.

It's a good thing the Twins did not spend any money on Free Agents this year so now they have some extra money to help pay for the lost Concessions and Snow Removal. Hey Pohlads just because you play near a Garbage Burner does not mean you can put Garbage on the field and expect people to show up.

The first couple of years a winning team and warm springs. Remember its still MN and when you its cold and when you lose good luck selling out. This isn't football where people don't mind a cold game. Lets see how many go enjoy the games this week
