How about limiting the CEO severance to the average severance package offered to the workers that lost their jobs in the bankruptcy. For a lot of people the severance was probably unemployment.
Cripes, I'll run a company into bankruptcy for a paltry 1 million. This country has been gutted and destroyed over the last thirty years.
Like it or not, libs, severance packages are a normal part of business for executives. The question of amount is based more on what is reasonable and customary in the industry in situations like this.
It's unbelievable with what the elite rich get away with in this country. Everything that is or was good about this country is being ruined by pathetic examples of endless greed...
minn12: None of these compensation plans for ousted CEO's is reasonable nor should it be customary in ANY industry. You repubs are all against paying regular ol' folks a decent minimum wage, but you think it's just fine and dandy for these corporate execs to go in, run a company into the ground, then collect millions when they're fired, while the regular ol' folks either take pay cuts or lose their jobs. It's immoral and it's not right and it needs to stop.
Minn12 - I'm a moderate and I don't like it at all. Outragous severance deals like this are only the tip of the iceberg. If we do not do SOMETHING to get a larger part of income into the hands of the middle class, and those who are striving to move up, we are in deep doo-doo. If I were part of the 1%, I'd be thinking.... Louis XVI and his dear Mary Antoinette.....Just sayin'
How about taking back everything ever paid to an executive who ruins his company?
No wonder airfare is so damned high!
They pay these guys because they failed. I would take a job like that and fail at it.
Let this be the beginning of common sense CEO pay and benefit packages.
