hicks is a joke,,,way out of his league,,,half of his ab's have been k's,,,and hes a leadoff hitter--wow. but,,,,what can we expect when u put this roster out there,,,,way overpaid catcher and mediocre mlb talent.

I have a bet on the table: The combination of Mauer and Morneau will have as many strikeouts this season as any Twins starter. Hell, maybe as many as Verlander. How many did Our Joey have tonight?

Mauer up in the 7th and he is the king of the 4-6-3 DP and he can't roll one to second to move the runner. That's clutch.

Joe Mauer is still an extremely good player, but his best days at the plate maybe behind him. His average strikeouts per year during his best seasons was between 50-65. That includes his 28 home run season. Last year, he struck out 88 times. He already has 10 strike outs this year in less than 10 games. That trend would indicate his elite status as a hitter and winning batting titles, maybe over.

Gardy felt bad for poor Mauer last night when he had to bat in the mud and rain. That's tough, wait he got a double in the 9th in the same situation tonight. Oh ya it didn't matter so Mauer came through.

Didn't people have these pretenders pegged as the turnaround kids last week? How quickly reality sets in. At least this will mean the end of the road for a skipper who should've been gone years ago.

I'm thinking that Mauer has a bit more on his mind right now than his ab's. Not excusing the 10 strikeouts at all. But he may want to get his head on straight. 2 errors, 10 strikeouts, 2 walks in 8 games. By contrast Willingham has 9 walks and 13 strikeouts in eight games. New husband, new soon to be dad. And zero focus on the game. Get your head in the game, son.
