It was perhaps the shortest-lived promotion in Twins history.

Dave, if you are looking at ways to add access to batting practice, how about just having batting practice after you open the gates? Did you ever think just maybe the fans coming early might be hungry or thirsty?

C'mon, St. Pete, we're all adults here. Don't go blaming underlings for a bad decision by you, the higher ups. Call it what it was, a bad idea.

I don't doubt that someone screwed up. The p.r. approach to these things is to wait a day. With a news cycle that changes every 30 minutes, something this meaningless to an org dies in a day. No need to say "we weren't bowing to the outcry." It just goes away. Ask any p.r. flak. However, being that no company, college or NGO lets a press release out without 12 rounds of vetting and a legal review until the media release is dull and convoluted, one does have to wonder what occurred here. There's a communication problem somewhere. That doesn't change the fact that fans can't watch the home team take b.p. Years ago, the White Sox decided to have the home team take b.p. last, so that the fans could watch (fans can always get in to see the visiting team take the later round of b.p.) Then Frank Thomas griped and that ended that. Geez. Open the doors early. What's wrong with MLB?

What seems to be lost in all this justified outrage is that paying $15 would allow you access to only the right field overhang. Such a small portion, that really only left handed hitters would be hitting to. St. Peter is lying about why they changed their minds. Which really make this whole thing even more comical.

Season ticket holders who for the past couple seaosns have had this perk are allowed only access to the right-field overhang. Right-handed hitters drive balls out there regularly in b.p.

Best humor since they (Twins) tried to leave Terry Leach out of the '91 Series bobblehead set.

Shows what i know. I never go to the game that early but, I always thought you could go early and watch BP. Seems like having more people there would simulate a game atmosphere more but what do i know.

Let me get this straight....State builds team a new state of the art stadium, Team doubles in value, Team increases ticket/food prices every year, Team drops payroll 40 million the past two years, Team tries to sneak in an added fee mostly for kids to watch their product before the game, Team plays dumb and says the Upper Management didn't know about it? Did Upper Management know they raised prices on EVERYTHING and dropped payroll?
