If the Wild can re-sign pommy, I see the sacrifice as being worth it. I love the angle that's getting tossed around too - Vanek and Pommy are great friends, and Vanek is a free agent come 2014. *rubs hands together*

Who can deliver this article to Terry Ryan and Twins ownership?

klocekakApr. 9, 13 2:53 AM

Leipold, I wish I could talk to you and tell you how much I love you! You are the first MN sports owner to go out and spend money to win, thank you. Its so hard watching MN sports teams get rid of our best players every year for prospects that nnever become all stars, but you changed that this year and i thank you. The Wild have the brightest next 3-5 years out of any team in the league. We will win a cup or 2 in that time period. THANK YOU THANK YOU

Pressure is clearly on Mr. Yeo. You have the tools, make it work.

@rodneykline I agree Jimmy Pohlad needs a visit from Liapold on how to run a sports franchise...and not run it in the ground...

I think they gave up way too much for Pominville. I am not saying it won't work out, but if I were part of the contingent, I would have voted no. If he were two years younger with a few years left on his deal it would have been a fair trade. If he doesn't sign here, it was a terrible trade. Big risk, big reward, but we were winning without him. Potentially traded away four starters for a 30 year old with 1.25 years left on his deal. Deal straddled on the reckless.... for that price we could have gotten a stud D-man which was a greater need IMHO.

Now that Heatley is lost with surgery it becomes a wash as far depth. Having a health Cullen and Danny makes a huge difference. We shall see....

The article is a direct bomb at the Pohlads for viewing their team as 100% business. I agree that Leo has spent the money and wants to win. Not sure if its that way at all, I said from the beginning that with a short season the Wild could do this but if the season was normal they would finish 9th. I would say this is Leos big chance, he has this year and next year his squad will go back to normal. Talent is great and all but not everything. Remember the NHL works on a cap system, even if Leo wants to be have like the Yankees he can't because the league won't let him spend all he wants on players, eventually he is going to have to have a FULL team of players with character that are properly managed

Don't forget that the Wilfs shelled out 20 million for Favre. The Pohlads are the cheapest owners in town.

I would have liked to been in the room when the Wild's 10-man brain trust decided to trade Nick Leddy for Cam Barker..
