How about we make a bad idea tax? Everytime someone in the legislature proposes a bad idea they are assessed a tax on that bad idea. So far we have etabs and a jersey tax.
dlzabz - Great idea!
Voters Eye DFLers!
A great idea, much better than trying to set up some type of slot machines in every 7 - 11 and all the Government effort that will go into that. Also, as part of the Vikings Stadium Bill/Law instead of the Renovated Target Center we could use present money and get it for "Free" and that so happens will bring NCAA Championship Games & $600 Million in Tourism over 10 years & save $400 million over a 2026 new Target Center. And it could be done with just 1/4 the small sales tax rate that makes up the Legacy Fund. We built a Twins Ballpark without a movable dome, a TCF Stadium that doesn't recruit & we're putting paint on the 5th oldest NBA Arena costing $200 million and the Vikings Stadium is slated to have a 1980's style Teflon Roof instead of a Movable Dome like other NFL Stadiums, People of MN, the infrastructure of Tourism, Sports & Image needs World Class Venues not 2nd best buildings, how about a little vision for the future and our great state of Minnesota?
Anypne who pays $129 to wear a shirt with someone else's name on it, shouldn't mind a little tax on it.
According to the figures released today (MPRNews Stadium Watch) another 29 bars added epulltabs during March. That would bring the total to 196 so far. At that rate it should only take about another 7 years or so and they'll reach their 2,500 bars goal. However, the sales per device has now fallen to a new low of $67 per day from a high of $395 per day last September. Since Gov. Dayton doesn't know how much the state is required to contribute each year, (He asked "How much is it? $20, $30 million?"), it's actually $35 million, it's a good thing that Rep. Lenczewski and others are getting involved in this especially since Dayton says he's getting upset at all the attention being paid to this. His fellow Democrats must so enjoy working with him.
How about just putting a tax on season tickets and private boxes. Let those that use the stadium, pay for it. Or just tell the Vike's mgmt to pay for it. In Texas, Jerry Jones shelled out $1b to build their stadium, the state just paid to condemn a bunch of houses and re-jigger the roads.
