The law does not apply to the Elites. Ask our Attorney General, Eric Holder, who within the past two weeks has said he has not prosecuted crimes committed by the Wall Street elites because he feared it might harm the stock market.
When we allow corporate-owned media to make deities of corporate executives and their hangers-on, the rich in general; when we snicker and denigrate the idea of civic responsibility; when we create a cult of individuality that ignores all the advantages handed to these people by all the rest of us; this is the sort of thing we can expect.
That it takes journalists, and "leaks" of information to expose liars, hucksters and thieves whose sense of entitlement knows no bounds, we've got a sick society.
These rich elite in the U.S. who stash their cash offshore have only one thing in mind - avoid paying income taxes that they legally owe to the U.S. and state governments. The IRS and the state revenue agencies need these names ASAP. Multiple criminal investigations and indictments are the only way the public will be satisfied.
Holder should be fired!
More tax breaks for the rich so that these "job creators" will rebuild our economy? Ha! The greed of the 1% is displayed in this report for all to see. Voters need to confront any Congressional Representative or Senator who won't agree to sponsor and vote for legislation to close these tax haven loopholes.
I paid thousands in health costs, thousands in rent and thousands in school costs...not to mention thousands in work expenses. Know how muchI got to deduct this year from those? Zero. I did get a slight tax reduction from my 99 dollar car tabs. I am not starving, I make about 100K..but if it weren't for the car tabs I could say I had NO DEDUCTIONS.
We profess indignation, outrage, call for reforms and prosecutions -- yet 47+% of the country voted for 'Off-Shore-My-Money-in-the-Caymans Mitt.' Probably because, deep down, a significant share of us figure if we were in those tax brackets we'd be looking for a way to do the same thing.
Yes, swmnguy, we are a sick society.
