From the Travel Desk: Fliers, avoid your neighbors' onboard peeves

  • Article by: KERRI WESTENBERG , Star Tribune

When on an airplane, what’s your pet peeve? I asked that question in a blog several weeks ago, and readers had lots to say. I share their thoughts here in the hope that offenders will be mindful of their actions’ effect on others — and perhaps (oh please) amend their ways. I am fresh off a flight, and it’s tough up there, especially if your neighbors act, even unwittingly, in ways that drive you mad.

Yes, I can relate to some of those. Wish I'd seen the original article. My absolute two worst are, 1. The person sitting behind you (or walking down the aisle - including FA's!!) who can't get out of your seat without reefing on the back of yours and, 2. The person in front of you who feels the need to fully recline their seat for the entire flight.

The only pet peeve I have that gets me too many times flying is when parents allow their children to kick the seat in front of them, or play by slamming/ hitting the seat-back tray. I can handle anything but inconsiderate parents/ kids kicking my seat for 3-4 hours.

Only one. The person in front of you invading your space by fully reclining,so as the top of their head is in your face. I somtimes brace the back of their seat so they can't recline. That had once caused a stir though. I claimed a bad knee would not allow for it! Also, intentionally coughing on their head will sometimes do the trick.

The kid seated behind me kicking my seat continuously while his parents watch it happen but do absolutely nothing to stop it.
