As top candidates decline or get better jobs, the Gophers basketball coach search might have to expand to these options.

can't be lazy anymore, with the days of electronic media. have to find something to write about. who cares if recent big ten hires took over 14 days. this guy has failed, failed, failed because the hire wasn't made in an afternoon. a week after the hire is made, this will be cache on internet explorer (think lining for the electronic bird cage). reaction to your article about questioning the hire (i have no doubt you have it finished already with "insert name here"...we can judge the hire in a few years.

Don't give up on Flip. Do whatever it takes.

Teague = what a joke!

What a waste of perfectly good bits and bytes and tomorrow morning's newsprint. The simple fact is that anyone, absolutely anyone, including a high school coach, will be an improvement over Tubby, as long as they have some enthusiasm for the game... something Tubby lost several years ago. Thanks for the almost, but not quite successful attempt at making people laugh. This column was really lame.

As much as I enjoy and like Jim Souhan, this particular column is a total waste of bandwidth, and has to be one of the worse columns of all time, totally worthless.

rayk1800Apr. 2, 13 8:40 PM

Well, Teague hasn't produced yet. Can't wait to see who it is.

Norwood Teague is a massive failure, both in costing Minnesota taxpayers unnecessary millions of dollars and finding a replacement coach.

I won't argue that this wasn't one of Jim's finest columns - but I have to say it was incredibly refreshing to read something in the Strib about the coaching search process without being lectured about how connected Teague and Ellis are due to their mystical Villa 7 program!!! Teague has demonstrated arrogance both in the classless handling of Tubby's firing (I agree completely with needing a change, but Tubby was treated like crap with emails being sent to regents that he had been fired 5 hours ahead of actually telling Tubby himself) and the offer to Flip that insisted on Teague and Ellis having some control over the selection of assistant coaches. If he proves with a great hire that he's as smart and connected as he wants us all to believe he is - and I'll be the first to tip my hat to Mr. Teague! I'm just glad that Jim Souhan isn't waiting to get approved talking points from Teague and Ellis before writing anything about the search process!! Unfortunately, it appears that isn't the case with some other writers at the Strib!

I'd like a new job. How about speech writer for Teague? "The men's basketball program is at a critical juncture and needs just the right kind of coach. We've searched far and wide for that person, and now we've found him. He's had tremendous experience as a high-school coach and junior college coach in Hodunk, Tanzania. We know he can bring the kind of performance needed by our big-10 program, so please welcome him." How's that? Sound familiar?

Well...Bar Stool Coaches......lets hear from you...what? nothing to say" ? Is all that you can come up with is "NO" ? Sounds like a political party that just got their rear ends handed to them.
