Twins notes: Season opener Twins' coldest since 1962

The temperature at Target Field when Vance Worley threw the first pitch of the 2013 season was 35 degrees, only slightly higher than the 33 degrees that the 1962 Twins faced.

Outdoor baseball in Minnesota is crazy. The Twins need a domed stadium.

Why don't the Twins play their home openers at 1:10? It would be warmer for the fans because more seats would be in the sunshine (assuming there is sun). I think most fans that attend opening day are not in their office until 2 o'clock and then head to the game.

We were in Chicago for a Twin's series, first weekend of 2009, I think. Gametime temps for Friday, Sat, Sunday were 33, 34, 34, with that Chicago wind swirling around US Cellular. Yesterday was much better than that. This is baseball in April; it should be great on Wednesday!

With an open date on Tuesday, the game should not have been played. It should have been moved to 1PM Tuesday. Lot's of discussion how well the pitchers pitched. I believe the cold had a lot more to do with it. Do you notice Caberra in his last two at bats, he didn't care whether he hit the ball or not. I do not blame him.

The Twins previous coldest home opener in 1962 was played on April 14th, not April 1st. The problem is that they have extended the schedule, not the outdoor stadium. It will be a lot warmer in Mpls two weeks from now. Duh.
