Ethanol mandates have driven up the price of corn. What other result could you expect?
RE: Stolaf80: You are correct that ethanol mandates have increased demand for corn, but that is far from the only factor. If you read the article you would know that the vast majority of corn is still used for animal feed, and since we have suffered consecutive years with severe drought across the country corn yields have not kept up with demand, which is also driven by the millions of bushels we export each year. Ethanol, weather, a weak dollar, corn rootworm, and countless other factors ALL contribute to increased acres, demand, and price.
