FORT MYERS, FLA. – Righthander Mike Pelfrey had the type of outing Monday that every starter wants to have during the last week of spring training. He had good stuff, and everything was down and on the corners.

And Pelfrey woulda had an EXCELLENT day if Morneau hadn't misplayed a hot shot in the first inning, or maybe a small bad hop. Looked like the ball whizzed right by his rib cage. Maybe he was sleeping a little. Woulda saved Pelfrey maybe 10 pitches.....and the run.

But again this year the Twins opening day pitcher is a name drawn out of a hat.

I see in ESPN that the Twins and Houston made a trade....any chance the Star-Trib is aware of this????

Chris Young of the Nationals is gonna get released it seems............any chance the Twins get after him to try and improve this giant disaster of a starting rotation?????

peaking... really? peaking? good lord this staff is going to be difficult to watch... Only question is this, can I get .90 cent tickets to the Twins on StubHub this year like I was able to get for the Wolves a few week back, I'm betting yes...

Pelfrey and Diamond will be just fine. By mid-June, Gibson should be up here to replace Correia. By then, perhaps Meyer is at AAA and Hendricks has mastered an effective out-pitch. And if all that happens, perhaps this team can contend for the final Wild Card spot, as the rest of this team should be fun to watch. But counting on guys like Worley and Corriea is one of two things: either idiocy or arrogance on Terry Ryan's part. If you honestly believe the press clippings and that everything TR touches turns to gold, how can he NOT believe that he can spend collectively on a staff less than Johan earned in a year SEVEN SEASONS ago and put out a quality product???
