That program is about as far away from competence as you can get in the Big Ten. I'm confused by the title of this article. No recruiting means you have no chance.

Coming off of a bowl loss and a 6-7 season is "momentum?" Wow what spin!

Kill has finished with a 2-6 Big Ten conference record in each of his first 3 seasons. Once again, we had the worst recruiting class in the Big Ten. What gives anyone any hope that this year will be any different? As the AD has stated in the Tubby Smith case, "Big Ten conference record is what matters, not non-conference". If Kill can't at least get to 4-4 in the conference, his days are numbered.

Specifially @ October44/commonsense - their recruiting class grades out almost exactly the same as everyone in the region (as if "star ratings' were reliable. They aren't. Research it.) @nomorebrew Going from 3 wins to 6 wins is pretty much the definition of momentum.

Can we schedule New Mexico State twice in one season? Maybe we can get back to the Meinecke Bowl!

gogophersgo- As was stated earlier, the Gopher football team has gone 2-6 in Big Ten play in 2012, 2011 and 2010. There has been no improvement, therefore no momentum. If you place any value in swapping non-conference opponents like Cal and USC (and paying UNC $800k) for San Jose St. and Louisiana-Lafayette just to get an extra non-conference W each year, then you are quite gullible. Conference record is all that matters and we've gone 2-6 for every one of Kill's 3 seasons.

The newest and best football facility in the country is being wasted.

Losing 7 of your last 9 = "momentum?" Maybe the "momentum" is the 4 straight cupcakes they open the season with for $800,000??

Can moretaxesnow and commonsens4u do basic arithmetic? Coach Kill has been with the Gophers for two years. He was hired in December of 2010. And improvement is most definitely momentum, whether it be in total wins or defensive points allowed or whatever metric you choose. Why go out of your way to find something to be upset about?

All you debbie-downers need a dose of reality. If you don't think the Gophers looked better in the Bowl game against TTech, you're blind and/or stupid. Last year was up and down. I wanted to see improvement last year, I saw it. I want to see more improvement this year. This is the year we need to see things on the upswing, if we don't then Kill's days are numbered. I'm getting older, I want to see a good Gopher team before I croak. Got about 20 years. Tick tock
