With the governorship and majorities in both houses, why haven't the MN DEMs passed gay marriage?

Karl Rove sees the writing on the wall. More and more GOP are going to lose support unless they change their archaic stand. The tide is rapidly turning in favor of gay marriage.

"With the governorship and majorities in both houses, why haven't the MN DEMs passed gay marriage?"--------They've had the majority for less than 3 months, and 6 months ago it looked like public opinion might go the other way. If all you can come up with to complain about is that they didn't do a turnaround at breakneck speed, they must be doing a pretty good job.

chablis28: "With the governorship and majorities in both houses, why haven't the MN DEMs passed gay marriage?" It's entirely possible they're waiting to see how the Supreme Court rules. If the Court rules on the side of equal rights for all Americans, not just straight ones, the legislation may not be necessary. Maybe it will be the law of the land as it should be.

"With the governorship and majorities in both houses, why haven't the MN DEMs passed gay marriage?", because we are working on finishing a budget. Once that's done expect to see a bill legalizing gay marriage pass through both the house and sentate where it will ultimately be signed into law by Governor Dayton.

"It's entirely possible they're waiting to see how the Supreme Court rules"............. Since, the Supreme Court ruling isn't expected until June and the MN legislature adjourns before then- I do not think they will wait. But, it is not like the legislature is doing nothing on the subject. A gay marriage bill has passed in committees in both the House and the Senate. That means it will probably come up for a floor vote after the budget passes. And this marks the first time that a gay marriage bill has passed in committee.

Not to worry. Any Republican that dares stray from Republican orthodoxy will be forever branded a RINO and subsequently kicked out of the party.

XXXXXXX Are you prepared to eat crow if they can't get enough DEMs on board to pass it and .... sign it into law? Everyone wants to bitch about the Republicans. The DEMs have all the potential votes they need to pass it and sign it into law. Not, just get it out of committee.Lets see, in the end, if thier walk matches thier talk. Anything less than passing it into law, is nothing.

You know the GOP is in trouble when the "king maker" Karl Rove keeps licking his finger to check the direction of political wind. Karl, you are eating crow. How is it? Something smells here. Rove is getting this out before the xxxx hits the fan in 2016. Watch for the new hair cuts and beauty makeovers when the GOP spits out its candidate list having checked all the boxes including the gays are OK box for its 2016 presidential platform. My oh my what web is being woven. Karl, what ever happened to the Evangelical vote and the GOP family values. So this is what was meant by compassionate conservatism eh! Can't a man change his mind when backed into a corner? RIP Karl Rove. You are a fossil.
