Nice story about a quality young man. Also great to see my high school win their first state championship in basketball. Let's go for the repeat next year.

Patrick, way to recognize this young man who stuck to his principles and stuck with his actual designated school. It is sad that he is the exception, instead of the rule, in the metro area. Let's start a movement: Let PRIVATE schools compete in a PRIVATE tournament. And place LIMITS on how many open enrollment athletes a public school can have on their rosters.

Speaking of Tyus, where was our head coach? Izzo coached, yet he made it a point to see the game. Also, did anyone notice the defensive hand slap Tyus did to start the game? Is he Duke bound? Unfortunately it does not seem to be in our future to have this incredibly impressive young man.

Keep Private schools in the State tourney, but they should play up a class as there percentage of good student athletes to enrollment is probably higher than its Public school peers. Also tighten up Open enrollment and more closely enforce it's rules.

Besides Hooker and Jones there were a handful of kids that are going to DI schools. Guess what not one will play at the U. Kids that were playing in the tournament are better then most of what Tubby has on his bench. Izzo was there yesterday I saw Calipari at the Brainerd game and this was after his team lost to Robert Morris the night before. Ah yes and people wonder why the basketball program is mired in mediocrity.

Nice article. Just a side note though, people from Somalia are known as Somalis, not Somalians.

Congrats hooker got confused and thought NDSU offerred him, poor kid is going to und who is ranked #262 of 318 RPI and last ranked bball conference (Montana lost by FIFTY to Syracuse). It's too bad he's going there.

UND or NDSU...neither school is relevant in Bball. Hopefully the kid studies hard and takes advantage of the free education.

ndsulakes. The quality schools are bailing out of the Summit League as fast as they can. Year in year out the Big Sky is a better conference. Bison football championship is a good accomplishment in a glorified d2 division.

Thanks for a good article on a great young man. Quinton is one of the most coachable, respectful and polite people I had the privilege to be involved with in 10 years of coaching youth basketball. It will be fun to watch his career continue next year at UND.
