Congratulations Amanda. However, hockey is the ultimate team sport. This is proven by the fact that of the three finalists, one is an outstanding goalie, one is a defensemen and captain, and the third is a forward and nation leading scorer. The fact that they are all playing for the same team explains why they are 40-0-0 with the oppertunity to make history . With that said, Congratulations Amanda, Noora and Megan.

Congratulations Amanda Kessel!! Very deserving of winning this award. I just can't express how glad I am you chose to play hockey for the Minnesota Golden Gophers! You and the entire team have been a real joy to follow, and have made the State of Hockey - and Women's hockey in general! - proud! Good luck, and keep it going!!

Also, regarding the team feeling the pressure of a successful (undefeated) season in the NCAA playoff; I respectfully disagree. To try and imply it's more the pressure of the season than anything else is to do a disservice to the other teams the Women Gophers have played in the NCAA's. Just looking at the regular season against Wisconsin, a couple of those games were very close, two 2-0 scores. And that was against a team that didn't make the NCAA playoffs. Once you get into the playoffs against the top teams in the COUNTRY, well, anything can happen. Especially if you're playing a team for the SIXTH time that year, they know each other so well with very little surprises, it actually would've been more of a surprise if the Gophers had blown them out. And then when you get to the final four teams? All of them are so good and capable of beating any of the other three, it should come as no surprise that the game was as close as it ended up being - prior to playing the Gophers, Boston College had lost only SIX games the entire season (compare that to the men's Gophers team which has lost 8 games heading into the NCAA's). Point is, sometimes you just need to give credit where credit is due. And with the last couple of games the Women Gophers have played, a person should admit that the other teams were very good also, and that's mainly why the games went to overtime.

Looks like they "forgot" to put in the article that Amanda is from WI. Imagine that.
