Chamber of Commerce and AFL-CIO, negotiating through a bipartisan group of senators, had reached significant agreement on a new visa program to bring up to 200,000 lower-skilled workers a year to the country
We already have millions of low skilled workers on Welfare, we do not need to import 200,000 more! Push those on Welfare to the availaable jobs!
Or pay a livable wage to lift those working full time out of poverty. You'd think the anti-government libertarians and teapublicans would be all for moving people off of welfare and becoming self-reliant. But you'd also think that the party who said those who would criticize the president during a time of war were unpatriotic would apply that same philosophy to whatever party occupies the White House.
