I sad to read this. He was a fine player. I remember watching him at the U. Two weeks ago my wife passed away from colon cancer that had spread to the liver. These deaths are unnecessary. People, please get a physical on a scheduled basis as colon cancer is treatable if found early. I didn't know anything about colon cancer until my wife got sick after it spread to the liver. Do yourself and your family a favor by getting a physical and avoiding the pain and suffering.

Very sad to see anyone get caught-up in such a downward spiral.

I have been watching Gopher BB since the Bill Fitch era and Ray Williams is the best wing player I have seen on our squad--and he played with the best front court player--Mychal Thompson. RIP Ray Williams.

Ray will always be one my all time favorite athletes. I listened to almost all of his games on the radio with Ray Christensen describing the play and he was one of the most exciting players I've rooted for. So sad to hear how he life turned out. r.i.p ray

Wish the Fans in MN would have helped him after all, he played in MN for all of us to enjoy...Why couldnt his rich friends help him out? Feel bad for anyone that has to live in a car and die alone.

I remember watching him and Mychal Thompson take apart Marquette, the team that later won the '77 title. Life really messes with people, no?

I'm not sure if it's true, but I recall a story about Ray Williams as a Gopher --- he could jump very, very high, and allegedly could grab a quarter off the top of the basket, and leave 25 cents change! RIP Ray Williams
