If nothing else, this article proves that criminals will not follow gun laws.

Guns don't blaze paths. After all, guns make us safer.

Wow - what an eye-opening story. I've felt that one of the missing elements of the gun debate is proper gun storage, and this reinforces it. I get weekly crime updates for my Minneapolis neighborhood, and nearly every week it denotes stolen firearms-- which means more on the streets. Guns should be stored in a locked safe. Period.

Wait a minute....Owens was wanted on an assault probation violation and wasn't arrested while he attended a corrections run juvenile gun offender program? Then the Hennepin Sheriff's deputies followed him and waited for him to do an armed robbery before the picked him up? Why didn't hennepin corrections or the hennepin county crime task force pick him up on his warrant instead of letting him point a gun at someone 's stomach?

Too bad we don't have mandatory background checks, all this could have been avoided.

The solution is so obvious. BAN GANGS!

Ok, the take-away on this article is? Well, let me try. One, criminals routinely steal guns or else buy stolen guns as their main supply source. Two, young gang-bangers who for decades, are already legally prohibited from legally possessing, much less legally buying a handgun, get them anyway and don't care a wit about the legalities. Three, they have been caught in illegal possession and often only get a slap on the wrist and have to attend some sappy-happy "don't do it no mo" class. Four, once back out on the streets, they blithely go back it it again. That about covers the main points, right? Ok, so why in the heck do the Democrats think that their feel-good but do-nothing gun control provisions will do *anything* to prevent this? We've had tons of laws on the books for decades, that had they been enforced with any teeth, would have alleviated much of this problem. But noooooo, instead of actually doing the hard work of cracking-down on these gang-bangers, the Democrats want to hassle peaceful and legitimate gun owners! Makes SO much sense. NOT!

Wow, another article by the Red Star that tells us nothing that we don't already know. Yet, the authors want to make it seem that had we had just one more law, none of this would have happened. Maybe the left could make murder more illegal and make shooting someone more illegal and then put them on double secret probation, you know that will show them.

One stolen gun blazes a violent path. - Please spare us the rest of the pathetic puff piece. Word 2 of the headline... STOLEN = CRIMINAL = ILLEGAL = NON-PROSECUTED = A NON-CITIZEN... What part don't LIBERALS get? Citizens shoot criminals, CRIMINALS shoot whoever they like! Liberal Mantra "I'ts too hard!"

If the liberals want to do something that would actually work, they should support programs like Operation Exile. Anyone caught committing crimes with a gun is prosecuted federally, and gets an automatice 5-year minimum sentence. A great deterrent, and it also keeps the scum off the streets for at least 5 years. Unlike the 'catch and release' program we have here.
