The abortion issue is very divisive and the supreme court erred in Roe v Wade. The abortion issue should have been left up to individual states, those "Laboratories of democracy", the way the Founders intended. That way, if you don't like for example, an abortion law in one State, you can let your feet do your talking for you and move to another. Or, visit another State to have an abortion if yours doesn't allow it. This was how it was supposed to work. But as we see over and over it isn't about having your own way locally and letting others do there own thing, its about liberals trying to exercise total control over your existence. Control over your health care choices, control over your education, control over where you live, what you drive, what you eat and on and on.

Abortion must remain legal. Many abortions happen for medical issues with the child and the decision must be left to the parents if they are able to care for a child with hi needs, or if the child is likely to die or suffer after birth if they do not feel they want to see their child suffer. We with science have developed more and more tests to check a fetus in it's earliest stages to indicate if something is very wrong. There can be a great many things very wrong. I don't think anyone debates that birth control should not be used as birth control, but with obamacare and free birth control now that is less and less likely to happen. That is why places like planned parenthood are so important as well, helping women not get pregnant through family planning. And of course there are cases where the mothers health will suffer.

What the pro-abortion forces fear more than any other thing is not states limiting abortions in the manner of North Dakota and Arkansas, but that the inevitable challenge to SCOTUS brought about by such legislation being passed will fail. And they have reason to fear because Rove V. Wade was never about abortion at all, but an end run that dealt only with the confidentiality of doctor-patient relationships. It should be interesting to see how this plays out.

If a 15 year old female is forced to keep the baby, who is funding; housing, health care, food, and education for her to keep her off welfare in the future?

louloubelle-Free birth control? Obamacare is free too? Really? Free? Why also has giving away condoms to school kids and teaching sex education at an early age led to more unwanted pregnancy? Low information voters is why we, as a nation, are circling the drain.

A clear-headed governor would realize that an unneeded tax surplus belongs to the people. Refund it. Let the North Dakotans who are passionate about this cause step up to fund the fight. It's true that our taxes often pay for things that we don't, personally, believe in. But, somehow, this doesn't feel right. Veto.

What's abundantly clear, in this instance, is that it's right wing conservatives who are trying to control and dictate people's reproductive choices. They have no interest in letting people "do their own thing."
