Hax: Daughter hasn't healed from bad breakup

Dear Carolyn: Quick background: I wrote to you before about my daughter’s on-again/off-again relationship with her boyfriend whom we didn’t like, and you wisely advised us that it was none of our business unless abuse or drug use or something was involved.

All parents: You need to push off and only come around with a valid invite or if someone is in the ICU.

Loving a drug addict is a special kind of hell. The parents here can see she needs support, and they need to give it. The daughter can make her own decisions. The parents need to remind her that she is strong in order for her to heal. "I told you so" is the worst thing to hear when reaching out to loved ones in a time of need. She gets it now. Move on with compassion.
