That's ok! If your mom named you Nizzle you probably won't live long enough to need an education anyhow.

Are we seeing the start of a second Detroit? Out of money, high crime and run by Democrats. That seems to be a formula for failure. Need more evidence? California. New York. They will fail next as they are already showing breaks in the walls.

supervon2 (5:17 PM) Your exactly right! The worst areas of decay in America are where the Democrats have absolute control. When there are no adults in the room, the asylum is run by the inmates. Can America be that far behind?

Maybe they shouldn't have given those already over-paid Chicago teachers big fat raises last year. The annual salary of a Chicago teacher averaged $75,000 per year (not including benefits like life-long pensions) before they got their raise and Chicago has among the WORST schools in the nation. Highest paid teachers = worst schools. How's that for a Democrat community? It's pretty typical actually.

If only they could get people to pay there "fair share"! Oh the people that actually rang the cash register have taken there money to other communities. Now they try to squeeze money out of people that are looking for there "Fair Share". Good luck

Failing schools are a direct threat to children. They should be eliminated at EVERY opportunity. We have plenty of money for great schools already in the budget -- and so does Chicago. Excellent schools should expand and the worst ones should ALWAYS close.

How can there be any hope for Chicago's schoolchildren when a teacher/picketer is waving a sign with "separate" spelled wrong in huge type? This story saddens me, a graduate of a Chicago high school in 1960, when Chicago's school system was the envy of most big-city school systems.

DufferH The caption identifies the picketers as parents, not teachers. Read the text.

Perhaps they could ask the gangs where the kids should go to school.

Maybe Gov Quinn can pass more taxes against the rich cities like Winnetka, Lake Forest, Glencoe, Highland Park! You know get them to "pay their fair share" and support Chicago inner city schools and help out Rahm!
