Great, another commission in Washington. They will report what they think should be done, both parties will rip it apart, and nothing ultimately will change.
How about Congress just does its job. There are committees in the House and Senate that should be capable of putting together a package of proposals to ensure the solvency of Social Security. Congress has abandoned the legislative process to politics. Durbin is just looking for political cover.
Here is my recommendation, that the current Congressional members’ retirement and medical packages be eliminated and that all members elected this November and after are included in Social Security and Medicare.
GREAT idea lou0047! Problem is though; the majority of our elected officials will never support it unless we have a groundswell of grassroots action pushing for this.
