Rightly or wrongly, much of the world sees Palestine as a kind of concentration camp, run by Israel with the strong support of the U.S. The continued building of settlements in Palestinian territory makes a two state solution nearly impossible, and sets the stage for continuing conflict.

The usual talking points from Steve Hunegs. How the Palestinians could have had their own state in 1947. Oh really Mr Hunegs. The Palestinians were living on their own land before they were kicked out. Quit pretending that the United Nations vote at that time was some kind of representative and unbiased process. And of course Mr Hunegs they were going to fight back. Wouldn't you, if someone took your land. Also congratulations Mr Hunegs for yet another propaganda piece without the word "settlements".

maybe obama can with his own eyes see the realities of the world view of "settlements". these are not settlements like a bunch of nomads pitching tents. they are vibrant communities and cities. The fact that they were built on land "deemed" by the UN world council and the rest of anti Israeli countries as an illegal occupation of a territory, is the real root of the problem. but Israel deems these areas as vital to it's own national security, and is not going to go back to pre -1967 areas.
