Terrible. You really should have to pass a test and/or criminal background to be a parent. Can you imagine getting a knock on your day and a 6 year old telling you "mommy was gone"
Can you imagine being a teacher who is blamed for not getting a child like this up to grade level?
How hard is it for a kid to just sit home and watch TV? I suppose in this day and age where parents treat their kids like infants until they're 30 these responses are to be expected. Yes, let's all demonize a low income single mother living what is probably a very hard life for wanting to get away for a few hours.
Not to diminish the seriousness of this alleged offense, but police and troopers almost always use the expression "detected a strong odor of alcohol" when an alcohol-related crime has been "committed," whether or not there has been a true "strong odor" detected. They are almost like tyrants with the power they have in these circumstances, which is exactly why the implied consent rules are so frequently, and righteously, and successfully challenged.
