bore hallmarks of al-Qaida in Iraq. The terror group, which favors car bombs and coordinated bombings intended to undermine public confidence in the government - - - What is it about Mideast Muslims that make them think God smiles when they blow-up those who disagree???
Wow, one comment so far on as significant an event as this. It was breathtaking how fast the war left the radar once we changed Presidents.
"What is it about Mideast Muslims that make them think God smiles when they blow-up those who disagree???" ==== I don't think Muslims invented martyrdom.
I don't know.....maybe there are still WMD there. You think?
So, in the cost column: $3 billion, 4500 American soldiers and over 100,000 Iraqis dead. In the benefit column...??? I love the USA but there are a number of my fellow Americans I'd like to get an explanation from about why they supported this farce. One of the many reasons the Republicans didn't invite GWB to address their convention or much of anything else.
The actual "war" against the Iraqi military took less than 2 months. The ongoing costs and operations mainly dealt with rebel factions of Al-Qaeda and the Taliban for the next 9 years. Unfortunately that aspect of the war and the costs will never stop no matter what country it's in as long as they continue to hate the west. We won the war, but lost the peace.
