Yup Gardy...that defense you have is "top notch"...just look at how solid that infield was last season...that Dozier and Plouffey really flashed the leather.

Pitch to contact is a poor way of saying "throw strikes"...if back to back 90+ loss seasons and 0 playoff series wins since beating Oakland in 2002 can't get you fired, by all means, keep preaching your failed mantra. Heaven forbid we allow a pitcher to thrive on good stuff and occasionally strike someone out! Seems Gardy would rather get 7 mediocre innings of "pitch to contact" and lose than 6 stellar innings and have the possibility of winning with his bullpen. I don't know how he ever put up with Johan Sanatana and all his strike outs!

"I don't know how he ever put up with Johan Sanatana and all his strike outs!" Well, Santana didn't exactly walk a ton of guys while striking out a bunc, so he "threw the ball over the damn plate," as Gardy instructed. They just didn't hit it very often. Correia lacks such capability.
