The nation’s 11 million illegal immigrants would have to wait a full decade for a green card but could earn citizenship just three years after that, under a measure being finalized by a bipartisan group of eight senators.

So if you entered the country illegally you are rewarded, but if you are waiting your turn and obey the law you are punished. How will this solve the immigration problem. You don't think that there will be a flood of illegals that rush across the border if this becomes law?

So if enough people break the law then he Democrats will make them legal to garner 11 million new voters with their hand out? The 47% ers are now the 49 %ers.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the Untied States of America. And to the REPUBLIC for which it stands ONE NATION UNDER GOD INDIVISIBLE WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL." I was raised on those words going through the school system and even now in my business. How many illegal immigrants know that pledge and respect it? Force your way in, break the laws and get a free lunch...pathetic. It has to end.

If amnesty is going to be granted the following must be put in place so we are not doing this again in 15 years....1) Secure the borders 2) make illegal entry into the USA a felony 3) Cut Federal funding to States with sanctuary cities 4) Go after employers who hire illegals 5) Do not provide welfare, foods stamps, school, free medical etc. remove the incentives! 6) Last but not least. Amend the 14th Amendment to not recognize citizenship of a birth in the US to Illegal Alien parents (anchor babies)

I think you may find a lot of bipartisan support against this bill. You will have to pardon the crude analogies, but if you have a bear problem, you get rid of the food it is going after. If you have a mice problem, you get rid of any food laying around as well. In this case, the "food" is a job in the USA. The bill that should be promoted, should be aimed squarely at the employers who hire these people. It would mean employers would have to pay better salaries to attract American workers, our prices for many items would go up, but you cannot have this both ways. Choose! or quit complaining!

PS... In my youth, I used to hoe sugar beets with Mexicans, and they outworked me by a great margin. They were also some of the friendliest people I have ever met. The ones that are here working today are the same... ambitious and only looking for a decent job, food, and a roof over their heads; something Americans take for granted. I have terribly mixed feelings on this one, but know stopping the illegals will meet with tough opposition from employers, who know the same thing about these workers as I do.... and take advantage of them by paying low wages which is their concept of the American dream and justify it by calling it "good business." I have another word for it.

What I'm hearing proposed here is amnesty, which is unacceptable. Please correct this affront to every ameican natural born or naturalized, and every hopeful immigrant lawfully waiting in line outside our borders. Injustice on this scale cannot be excused with corporatist rationalization.

There was a story on MPR this morning about legal foreign laborers getting VISAs to come here to work 25 hrs a week at McDonalds. This is what attacking our labor market looks like when it hurts the most vulnerable Americans. Contact your representatives and tell this these attacks against US labor must stop.

Another example of how today's America caters to whoever can get the squeeky wheel to squeek loudest will get the greese. Common sense, rules, laws, history, and values are a thing for history books and the past. We are a nation of immigrants and should continue to be, but coming in the back doors, destroying our freedoms, and literally forcing the books changed for your behalf is criminal and will always be criminal in my books.
